Another school year is complete and we earned another $477.00 for St. Michael's Lutheran School. Congratulations to Luke Hoerlein, Nathan Hood and Milla Thurston for being the top three clippers for the year! There are some changes that have begun to the Box Tops for Education program. You may have noticed Box Tops disappearing from some products such as Kleenex. Yes, the physical labels are being removed and phased out. BUT there is good news! We can still clip and collect any Box Tops out there as long as they aren't expired and our school will still earn money. You can begin earning money for our school right now by downloading the app at BTFE.com. With the app, scan your receipt and it will search for BTFE products and instantly apply the money to St. Michael's online account, no clipping needed. Within a few years, the program will be completely digital. You can see the new logo included here. Why is BTFE doing away with the physical Box Tops? Packaging has a lot to do with it. It is an added expense for companies to include the Box Tops on their products and when they expire, the companies find that consumers don't want to buy the product. However, BTFE has added to two new products: Blueberry Cheerios and Nestle Pure Life water bottle packages. Also check out BTFE.com for a complete product list as well as money-saving coupons. One more note: Ziploc products with an expiration date of 11-1-18 are STILL valid. There was a packaging issue so those are still being accepted. So please keep clipping this summer and download the BTFE app. Our next count will be September 27th. Thanks for clipping and helping our school! Jessica Schlicht Box Tops Coordinator

Fill A Backpack The Board of Outreach will once again supply backpacks for you to take and fill with supplies. This year they will be given to students at St. Michaels, Franklin Avenue and other places for kids who need them. There will be list of supplies for you to take to help you shop. We want to make sure that children have a nice backpack and the supplies requested to start the new year. We sometimes forget that not everyone has the resources to send their children to school with everything they need and this will help them out. We plan to have the backpacks available at church by July 21st and they should be returned by August 18th. Thank you for helping us help children.

Because our study of Genesis proved to be so popular, Pastor Gadeken and Jeff Bolzman will continue to team teach a new study on Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth. Corinth was a large and important Greek city not far from Athens, where Paul spent a long amount of time as a missionary pastor starting and growing a Christian congregation. This congregation was completely made up former pagans and existed in the middle of a very pagan culture. Unlike many of Paul’s congregations that started with a core group of Jewish Christians, this congregation had little or no Bible background. Paul has to deal with the collision of two very different world views – one Christian, and the other Greek, made up of philosophies that are still around today. Paul had to deal with issues of absolute truth, sexual morality, different ideas about marriage, homosexuality, the justice system and the courts, speaking in tongues, divisions among Christians, life after death, and many more. Sound familiar? There is a reason. We now live in what many are calling a “postChristian” culture in which the Christian world view clashes with so many other popular ideas. Pastor Gadeken will take us through a close reading of the text of Paul’s letter, and Jeff Bolzman, using a verity of media, will supply background on the world views found there and in our culture today. Both will work together to present a way for us to live as Christians in our modern world and give a better witness to our faith in Christ to those around us. We will start on Sunday, July 28, in the meeting room, with snacks, coffee and a warm welcome to any and all. Pastor Gadeken
